Seal the Gates!

Hark and hasten, brothers,

For Humanity is under siege!

Arm yourselves and bear your shields.

To the gates, good brothers, and ready your steel!

By the neon gods, hither the Enemy comes.

Brace yourselves, brothers, and defend Humanity!

 

The Fiends are striking at the Ears of Man,

So seal them tight: Plug them up, and grant

Humanity music to listen, music to frolic and escape,

Songs and albums and radio tunes. Anything,

Anything numbered and linguistic will do,

So long those Ears are heavily sealed.

 

The Fiends are attacking the Eyes of Man,

So seal them tight: Ensconce them, and provide

Humanity an adventure of dreams. Cover them with

Vision, illusion, pixels and light. Strap those goggles

Firmly on their heads: The Enemy must not dare

Storm those subjected Eyes.

 

We have received intelligence, brothers,

That the Fiends will be attacking the Body of Man.

So seal it tight: Block their skin and nerves

With tranquilizing liquids from metal sticks,

With soft powders up their noses,

With shocks, adrenaline boosters, the whole armament

Of suppressants and soothers!

 

The Fiends will invade the Nose of Man,

So seal them tight: Innovate new walls from

Humanity’s greatest imaginations

To ensure the twin thresholds will not be touched

By the Enemy. Instead, let selected smells

And chosen fragrances travel the black-spiked hallways,

Upwards to please and awe the pink king.

 

Now the Fiends are planning to conquer the Mouth of Man,

So seal it tight: Renounce the unhealthy, the fast, the processed,

And gorge Humanity only with bland necessities.

Take not the animal or the plant,

But rather the proteins and vitamins no tongue shall enjoy.

So long as the Mouth is sealed, all is well.

 

And has the Enemy been vanquished, good brothers?

Has its reality failed to teach Humanity?

Have the Fiends (Nature, Suffering, Love, Experience, Truth,

And the Other Endless) been defeated?

 

But wait! Attention, brothers, for the Enemy is here!

In all its beauty, grace, and wonder, it is here!
